乳酸菌對腸胃道有益,但市售乳酸菌飲品有太甜的疑慮,該如可選擇?營養專家表示,無糖乳酸菌飲品當然是最好選擇,但口感及味道較難讓人接受,基本上只不要當開水喝,一天喝一小瓶應是可以的,或是選擇使用寡糖的乳酸菌飲品,健康又不會發胖。台灣乳酸菌協會榮譽理事長蔡英傑表示,乳酸菌加糖主要是為了要養菌,同時中和一下乳酸菌的酸味,現代人講求健康,不少乳酸菌飲品的糖分已做了調整,但比較不甜的乳酸菌飲品的銷售狀況相對較不好。

由於甜度的調整改良,目前市售乳酸菌的糖分添加有代糖及異麥芽寡糖等,但代糖的甜味有些人不喜歡,且代糖有一些健康上的疑慮,相較之下寡糖不僅是益生菌的生長因子,且不會被人體所利用,享受甜味之時,不用擔心發胖的問題,但成本較高。振興醫院營養師殷秀妙表示,站在健康的角度,無糖乳酸菌飲品當然是最好選擇,但無糖乳酸不僅口感不好,且會有酸臭味,大多數人喝不下去,然而加了糖的乳酸菌飲品多半又太甜,吃下益生菌的同時,也吃進了過量的甜分,容易發胖。對於這個兩難的問題,殷秀妙指出,只要不是拿來當開水喝,一天喝一小瓶應是可以的,甜分的攝取可以是動態的,如果這一餐吃了很多甜食,下兩餐就要少吃,這餐喝了一大瓶加糖的乳酸飲品,其他餐的甜分就要少吃。蔡英傑表示,現在不少乳酸菌飲品都有出Light的產品,民眾可以參考,另人一天攝取100~200億的益生菌即足夠,民眾可以看外在菌數標示,就可以知道今天是否已經攝取足夠的益生菌。另外,建議喝完乳酸菌飲品後,多些吃蔬菜,因為纖維質是乳酸菌最好的食物,有助好菌在腸胃道內生長的更多,讓腸胃道布滿更多的好菌。,
